About us

Consumer law professor Christine Riefa and consumer tech policy expert Liz Coll established the Enftech project in 2022 to explore how digital technology can be used more effectively to boost enforcement efforts. The project grew and came to influence the orientation of activities at the UNCTAD informal working group on consumer protection in e-commerce that Christine now coordinates. While Liz has taken a step back to pursue other projects, her imprint on the research is still palpable and she is regularly checking in!

Both have hands on experience in working directly with governments and regulators across the world advising on critical issues like enforcement, AI, the platform economy, data protection and smart homes. They are adept at bringing people together in strong partnerships to create safer and fairer digital environments for consumers.

Together they have amassed over 40 years’ experience in consumer protection law, consumer advocacy and enforcement. Passionate about identifying how technology can help address some of the greatest challenges of the digital world, they launched the project to support enforcement agencies in an era of rapid change.
